Solid bamboo, also called Iron Bamboo (dendrocalamus strictus), is a thin diameter bamboo from SE Asia. Despite its thin 1-2″ diameters, this semi solid bamboo has extremely thick side walls that yield an incredibly durable, split-resistant construction-grade bamboo. It is used extensively in fences and screens which, thanks to the structural qualities of the bamboo are far superior bamboo options than those found in big-box retailers. - Appearance: Rustic, and heat-straightened, it is not uncommon to see evidence of the heat straightening process along the poles’ length. The poles are extremely straight, have minimal taper, and possess an overall tan color like most bamboo.
- Grade (Int. vs. Ext.): Perfectly suitable for both interior and exterior applications
- Comm. vs. Res: Both
- Treatment: Heated straightened, and boiled in boric acid to remove bugs and pests.
- Durability: The most durable exterior bamboo we sell. Without maintenance, like all wood and bamboo outside, it will fade to a silvery grey over time.
- Size: Poles are typically 1″ x 12′ or 2″ x 12′. Longer lengths are available.
